New Subaru Robin RGX Series Generators Offer EX Engines, Anti-Icing Feature

WOOD DALE, Ill. - Adding to its Power Series and Silent Series generator lines, Subaru Robin introduces a new line of compact gasoline generators powered by its EX series overhead cam (OHC) engines. The new generator models include the RGX2900, RGX3600, RGX4800 and RGX4800E, offering maximum outputs ranging from 2,900 watts to 4,800 watts.

The generators feature Subaru Robin's EX series engines, the first engines to utilize high performance chain-driven OHC technology in the industrial air-cooled market. The RGX2900 offers the EX17 6-horsepower engine, while the RGX3600 is driven by the EX21, a 7-horsepower engine. The RGX4800 and RGX4800E, the largest in the series, are powered by the 9-horsepower EX27 engine. The generators are lighter and smaller than previous models due to the compact design of the EX engine. Additionally, the RGX2900, RGX3600 and RGX4800 come standard with a recoil start, and the RGX4800E includes a standard electric start as well as a backup recoil starter.

All RGX generators include a standard anti-icing feature. This innovative feature draws air warmed by the engine into a tube and redirects it to the air intake. In cold weather conditions, such as ice storms or blizzards, the warm air inhibits ice buildup on the air intake and helps prevent the generator from shutting down when it is needed most.

A lo-tone spark arrestor muffler reduces the generators' sound output, making them appropriate for applications where noise must be kept to a minimum. To facilitate long runtimes, a large 4.4-gallon fuel tank with gauge is standard on all models. Each generator includes Hubbell receptacles with fuseless circuit breaker protection and 12-volt DC charging, with the RGX3600, RGX4800 and RGX4800E incorporating automatic idler control and a full power switch.

The generators offer an hourmeter that tracks the length of time the unit has run, a feature especially useful for rental centers. By monitoring the hourmeter, recommended maintenance can be scheduled at regular intervals to help ensure the generator continues to function properly.
